Cuarteto de Nos

A Very Serious Joke: The Reflection and the Sum of Our Decisions

How to cross a threshold?

El Cuarteto de Nos is one of the most iconic and prolific bands in Uruguay. They’ve been around since 1980, releasing seventeen albums over more than forty years of music and experimentation. Known for creating their own worlds by mixing genres, they’ve turned satire into the common thread that runs through all their work.

This time, they’re back with a brand-new project: Puertas (Doors). In this album, the band dives into the choices that shape our journey, what hides behind each door, and the reasons that make us pick one over another. At Bruster Studio, we brought that idea into the visual world, blending surrealism with pop art in a playful dialogue that mirrors and amplifies the album’s music.

The cover art works like a mosaic: a mix of symbols and objects that belong to each song. Put together, they create the whole picture; taken apart, they become individual pieces that stand on their own as visualizers. Each fragment is part of a bigger story and, at the same time, a universe of its own.

The project included everything from album artwork, 3D modeling, and illustration to animation and motion graphics, shaping a visual language that speaks directly to the music.

We also created a photo shoot for the band’s communication—material designed for concert promotion, online presence, and social media. In the images, the band members play and interact with real objects from the album cover, building a bridge between the real and the imaginary. These visuals were then adapted into social media posts, posters, and billboards, expanding the album’s narrative into multiple formats.

We also added to the Puertas visual universe with the cover art for the singles Miren para allá (Look Over There) and En el cuarto de Nico (In Nico’s Room), each with its own vibe that reflects the spirit of the track.

And for the live performance of Cara de Nada (Blank Face), the dog mask was turned into a real-life object that both the band and the fans can wear—bringing the visual imagination of the album straight into a shared, collective experience.

Identidad Visual. Dirección creativa. Arte de discos, imagotipo, ilustración, modelado 3D, merchandising, animación y motion graphics.
