Seawater Hydraulic

When graphic solutions arise from innovation

PLOCAN (Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands) needed to create the visual identity for SHY (Seawater Hydraulic PTO Wave Energy Converters), a project funded by the European Union and managed by a consortium of nine partners across seven countries (Denmark, Spain, Germany, Austria, Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands).

The goal is as ambitious as it is inspiring: to develop wave energy technology through the creation of a composite linear pump and a control valve that uses seawater as its working fluid. In simpler terms, the waves themselves, through their motion, generate clean energy while also enabling seawater to undergo desalination and become fresh water.

After diving deep into the technical details of hydraulic energy generation powered by wave motion, a clear visual path emerged: translating the technology into a graphic form that captures the simplicity and peak efficiency of this innovation.

This challenge set the stage for the branding process, leading to the creation of concepts for the brand’s launch on social media and web design.

Design as a reflection of technology.

From this conceptual foundation, the logo encapsulates the undulating motion: a rhythmic flow that instantly connects the brand with its dynamic identity.

This is not just an aesthetic choice but an educational one, as the logo communicates, in a simple and direct way, the development of a groundbreaking technological approach to clean energy.

Visual Identity. Logo design, conceptualization, content creation and motion graphics.
